In January 2026, Carolyn Kendle with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency presented on the County’s dementia initiatives, programs, and resources at the monthly Dementia Consortium meeting. The presentation included a history of the Alzheimer’s Project, a regional initiative established by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in 2014 to address the toll of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias on families, communities, and healthcare systems. The Alzheimer’s Project continues to support work in three focus areas (additional links to more information and resources are below):

AIS also sponsors the Dementia & Brain Health Team, a coalition of aging service providers, healthcare providers, community members, and others who meet every other month to share resources and information and collaborate on dementia education and outreach efforts.
